One of the most profound questions I ever encountered came from my master when I began my journey alongside him: "If you are so smart, why are you unhappy?" At that moment, I didn’t have an answer. It was a difficult truth to face, but I realized that much of what I "knew"—everything I thought defined me—had come from external sources: books, parents, teachers, gurus, and society at large. None of it felt truly mine, and yet I had built my understanding of myself and the world around these borrowed ideas.
The first and most important step I took with my master was to acknowledge that, in truth, I didn’t know anything. This recognition was liberating. It opened my eyes to the idea that authentic knowledge doesn’t come from external teachings but from direct, personal experience. I also came to see that the very things I clung to as my "truths" often stood in the way of my happiness, obstructing my path like roadblocks I had unknowingly placed there myself.
True transformation and harmony began when I let go of the need to define myself based on these inherited beliefs. By shedding the layers of who I thought I was, I created space to connect with my authentic self. This internal balance allowed me to recognize and embrace the happiness that had always existed within me, hidden beneath the noise of external expectations.
